I created this recipe after making my homemade caramel sauce because I had so much to use up after recipe testing that one until it was perfect! The kids and I came up with this sweet dip, which is perfect for a fun dessert everyone will love! The kids love finding new things to dip into this one, and if truth be told, they love just eating it with a spoon!

Why You'll Love This Recipe!

Quick to Make - It comes together in about five minutes, so it’s perfect when you need a fast dessert.

Light and Fluffy Texture - The cream cheese and heavy cream whip into a smooth, airy dip that's so easy to scoop.

A Crowd Favorite - It’s a dip everyone keeps coming back to, and it disappears fast because it’s so addictive.

Ingredients

  • Heavy Whipping Cream - Use it cold so it whips quickly and holds a soft, fluffy texture.
  • Cream Cheese - Make sure it’s fully softened or it won’t blend smoothly. Leave it out on the counter or soften it gently in the microwave.
  • Granulated Sugar - This is completely optional. Skip it if your caramel sauce is already sweet enough.
  • Cinnamon - Adds a warm flavor that pairs beautifully with caramel.
  • Caramel Sauce - Thick caramel works best. Homemade caramel straight from the fridge works great.

How to Make Whipped Caramel Dip

Before you start, make sure your cream cheese is soft, if it's still hard and cold, it won't whip into the heavy cream and you'll have a gritty textured dip.

Add the heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, sugar (if using) and cinnamon to the bowl of a stand mixer and use the whisk or paddle attachment to whip until light and fluffy (speed 4 to 6 for around 2 to 3 minutes).

Now add the caramel sauce and whip again for around 1 minute until it's completely combined with the whipped cream mixture.

Voila! You've got whipped caramel dip that you can serve with apple slices or your favorite sourdough crackers (I highly recommend these cinnamon sugar sourdough crackers).

Kate's Recipe Tips

  • It's imperative that your cream cheese is soft before you start this recipe. Take it out of the fridge and leave it on the counter well before you want to make this recipe. Alternatively, you can soften it in the microwave if you're in a hurry.
  • When using my homemade caramel sauce, I don't add the granulated sugar to my dip, but you can add it if you want a sweeter dip. A little pinch of salt is nice too (if you haven't already added it to your caramel sauce).

How to Store + Freeze

Keep this dip chilled instead of room temperature, since it’s dairy based. It softens quickly once it sits out, so only bring out what you plan to serve. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Give it a gentle stir before serving to refresh the texture.

I don’t recommend freezing this one because the whipped cream and cream cheese can separate once thawed. It’s best enjoyed fresh or within a couple of days.

Caramel Sauce - I've used my homemade caramel sauce right out of the fridge. I find using it while it's thick gives you the best consistency.
